Who we are
EXCELLENCE UNDER ONE ROOF
The Chapin School is an independent day school established in 1901, educating girls and young women from kindergarten through Class 12 under one roof and dedicated to the academic and personal growth of its students, preparing them to thrive and lead in a global society.
Why a girls’ school?
At a girls’ school, girls are the presidents and vice presidents of student government, they are the entire robotics team and they are the first to have their hands raised to solve a quadratic equation. According to the International Coalition of Girls’ Schools, students who attend girls’ schools outscore their co-ed counterparts on the SAT by an average of 28 to 43 points; three times as many alumnae of girls’ schools plan to become engineers and girls’ school students spend more hours a week doing homework, attending study groups, tutoring others and working with their teachers than co-ed school students.
Why Chapin?
Every girl feels challenged, supported and empowered at Chapin. With Kindergarten-Class 12 under one roof, our students develop a deep sense of community, with the opportunity to support, learn from, and mentor one another through organic interactions and structured time. Along with strong academic foundations that prepare them for future scholarly pursuits, students leave Chapin as brave and thoughtful global citizens with enduring friendships.
