Who we are

Applications for the 2027-2028 school year will be available on September 1 here on Ravenna.
At Rudolf Steiner School—the first Waldorf school in the Americas—we nurture each child's unique skills through academics that go beyond test scores. Here, students learn to think critically, create boldly, and develop the integrity and compassion needed to thrive in our changing world.
The Steiner Difference
Teacher engaging with students in classroom setting
Teach the Person and the Subject: Whole-Child Development
We foster an environment where students can grow in harmony with their developmental needs and inner rhythms. We respect each student for their unique capacities and individual abilities, while honoring the differences that set us all apart.
Thoughtful Technology
Our focus is on intentional technology use, not screen time. We teach students to balance the digital world with the natural one. The school introduces technology thoughtfully at appropriate ages, which supports students as they explore the impact of technology on the individual and the world.Artfully Intentional
At Steiner, the arts aren't an occasional subject—they're essential to how we teach and how students learn. While we are not an art school, the arts are inextricably woven into our academic program, serving to deepen understanding in every subject.
The Experience of Encountering
Learning at our school is active and experiential. Students learn by doing; through observation, exploration, and direct engagement with the world around them. Rather than dissecting frogs, we observe them in their natural habitats. Instead of relying on screens as teaching tools, we introduce digital literacy intentionally, beginning in Grade 7. By senior year, students often choose to build their own computers as a capstone project.
Our Community is Our School, The World is Our Community
Rudolf Steiner School was founded on ideals around the importance of human dignity for all people. We strive to create a diverse and welcoming community where all students and families feel seen, respected, and valued. We are all global citizens, and at Steiner, students' natural curiosity leads them to explore the world, both in and out of the classroom. As our students progress through the grades, they spend time on farm trips, and in high school have the option to participate in international exchange programs in Germany, France, Spain and more.
