Grace Episcopal Day School

Grace Episcopal Day School in Kensington, Maryland, is a joyful and inclusive learning community where children’s innate sense of wonder guides their growth from age 2 through Grade 5 through our Reggio Emilia-inspired approach. Our expertise in early childhood and elementary education shows in our graduates, who enter middle school with unshakeable confidence in who they are — both as students and as people.

Nestled on 11-acres, children arrive joyfully each day, ready to wonder, explore, and use their creativity in all they do within and outside classrooms. Staff, students, and families are known and affirmed in who they are and embraced in all they bring to Grace. In this intentionally diverse, tight-knit community, children and adults partner to develop Gryphons who care, connect with others, and take seriously their responsibilities as humans who positively contribute to spaces they inhabit. With ample time outdoors and minimal technology-use, Grace is a place focused on human connection and individual growth within a welcoming community where each person belongs.

With belonging as a foundation, students learn in small classrooms where educators use five Core Values to design instruction. With these values as a foundation, each child engages in language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, visual arts, physical education, music and movement, and Spanish (beginning in Grade 1). Teachers closely collaborate to support students across subjects while also integrating subject areas through cross-disciplinary learning.
