Who we are
Welcome to Edmund Burke School in Washington, DC.
Founded in 1968 | Grades 6-12 | Washington, DC
At Edmund Burke School, we combine academic rigor, experiential learning, and civic engagement. We're a city school, and the city is our classroom.
Students pursue subjects at a high level, from microbiology to French literature to robotics, while having space to explore new interests and engage in their school community. We hold students to high expectations, and we find the challenges that motivate them as individual learners.
- Be multifaceted: opportunities are vast and inclusive at Burke, enabling you to explore, iterate, and pursue multiple interests
- Be yourself: you will find a welcoming, diverse environment, where you can bring your whole self to school
- Close community: students, teachers, staff, and coaches truly get to know one another and form lasting connections
- Student agency: you will be an active participant in your learning, developing your voice, independence, and self-knowledge
