From our youngest learners to those preparing to excel in college and beyond, Dexter Southfield provides a continuum of growth and discovery. Our intentionally designed curriculum nurtures students’ intellectual, social, and emotional growth at every stage. From building foundational skills in the Lower School to fostering independence in the Middle School and planning for future successes in the Upper School, we empower our students to become confident, compassionate leaders.

Our unique learning model—single-gender classrooms in PreK through Class 8 and a co-educational environment in Classes 9 through 12—is grounded in research and allows our students to thrive academically and socially. We expect a lot of our students and hold them accountable while encouraging them to enjoy the journey—to explore their passions and the world around them. We want students to learn to overcome adversity while meeting and managing obstacles.

Our approach combines rigorous academics with robust arts, athletics, and extracurricular programs, all guided by our motto, "Our Best Today, Better Tomorrow." Teachers, mentors, and coaches actively and intentionally foster an environment where students recognize the responsibility of taking on a rigorous challenge while embracing the joy of extraordinary moments in their lives.
