Who we are

Sacred Heart School: An Idyllic Place to Learn, Grow, and Thrive

Founded in 1957 by the Sisters of Notre Dame of Namur, Sacred Heart School welcomes students and families of all faiths and backgrounds who seek an education centered on the whole child. We believe every child deserves an educational experience that nurtures their academic, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual development. Our mission is to help students discover their unique gifts, develop strong character, grow in faith, and reach their highest potential.

Teacher-Led Learning that Supports the Needs of Every Child

Our learning program is forward-thinking, rigorous, and designed to challenge students to extend their abilities. Our dedicated, credentialed teachers focus on the needs of each child. Through teacher-led instruction, inquiry, discovery, technology, and engaging learning experiences, students develop strong academic skills, positive attitudes toward learning, and the habits needed for future success. Our approach recognizes that children learn in different ways, and our teachers work to provide the support, challenge, and encouragement each student needs to reach their highest potential.

The Advantage of a JuniorK–8 Education in one School

As a Junior Kindergarten through 8th grade school, Sacred Heart offers a unique educational journey that allows students to grow within one strong and consistent community. Our foundational educational philosophy creates a fluid curriculum and seamless transitions as students move from teacher to teacher and grade to grade. Younger students benefit from being part of a larger school community, while our older students have authentic opportunities to lead, and mentor our younger Mustangs.

A Community Where Every Child Belongs

Community is at the heart of Sacred Heart. We believe children thrive when they feel known, valued, connected, and cared for. Our students build relationships across grade levels, and our families become an important part of the life of the school.

Our faculty and staff work every day to create an environment where children feel safe, supported, included, and respected. We hold high expectations for behavior and teach students to treat themselves and others with compassion, dignity, and respect. We want every Mustang to know that they are cared for, that they belong, and that they have a community standing behind them.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Education at Sacred Heart extends far beyond the classroom. Throughout their years at the school, students have opportunities to experience learning firsthand through field trips, retreats, camps, performances, service, athletics, and enrichment programs. From Junior Kindergarten visits to the Saratoga Library to 4th grade explorations of Gold Rush history in the Gold Country, 5th grade experiences at Mission San Juan Bautista and the American Revolution, 6th grade weeklong Science Camp, 7th grade Renaissance experiences, and an 8th grade retreat, our students are encouraged to explore the world, make connections, and create lasting memories.

Our enrichment opportunities allow students to discover and develop their individual interests and talents. Student Council, Robotics, Theatre, Athletics, Community Service, Choir, Altar Service, Scouts, Girls on the Run, Piano, Art, Speech and Debate, and Homework Club provide students with opportunities to lead, create, compete, serve, collaborate, and grow beyond the traditional school day.

Preparing Students for What Comes Next

Ultimately, Sacred Heart is about preparing children not only for their next academic step, but for life. We want our students to leave us as confident learners, compassionate friends, responsible leaders, and young people who understand the importance of using their gifts in service to others. Our commitment to the whole child ensures that academic excellence is never separated from character, community, faith, and personal growth.

Why Sacred Heart?

What makes Sacred Heart distinctive is the way all of these elements come together:

A mission-based Catholic education, a strong JK–8 community,

  • teacher-led and rigorous academics,
  • authentic leadership opportunities,
  • meaningful enrichment,
  • a culture grounded in safety, caring, inclusion, and respect
  • We partner with families to know each child, nurture their strengths, support their needs, challenge their thinking, and encourage them to reach their highest potential.

Sacred Heart School is more than a place to learn. It is a place where children are known, loved, challenged, supported, and inspired to become the very best version of themselves.
