Who we are
Welcome to Marin Horizon School!
We are an independent, coeducational day school serving toddlers through middle schoolers. Our campus is located at the foot of Mount Tamalpais in Mill Valley, California.
About Us
Founded in 1977, we have always been proud to say that we're a different kind of school. One that fosters a genuine passion for learning, kindness, and positive change. Our curriculum is designed to inspire students to embrace challenges, think critically, and become compassionate advocates. And within our inclusive community, every student is seen, heard, and valued.
Mission & Vision
We ground students in a deep sense of belonging so they become enthusiastic learners, develop confident voices, and emerge as beacons of kindness in their communities. We envision a world where young people's confident voices spark meaningful, positive change.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Marin Horizon School is a recognized leader in Bay Area education, known for our deep dedication to building a diverse and inclusive community. This commitment is central to our philosophy, equipping students to thrive in both local and global societies. As part of this mission, we have operated Horizon Community School (HCS) since 2017 which is an extension of our Early Childhood Education program in neighboring Marin City. Run as a successful public-private partnership, HCS serves as a premier model for turning educational ideas into impactful action.
Admissions
Marin Horizon's admissions process is designed to be thoughtful and thorough. Our approach is warm and informal, just like our community, and we have created a range of events to give families insight into the school experience. To reach admissions, please email admissions@marinhorizon.org or contact Denise Bailey (Associate Director of Enrollment Management) at denise@marinhorizon.org or Lizzie Key '01 (Director of Enrollment Management) at lizzie@marinhorizon.org.
Indexed Tuition Model
We believe that every family brings unique and valuable perspectives to our community, so it's our goal is to ensure that families, regardless of their financial background, can access the outstanding programs offered at our school. Our indexed tuition model allows us to tailor the yearly tuition to match each family's income. The program also covers a portion of non-tuition expenses.
