Who we are

Begin with curiosity. Grow with intention.

Does your child ask questions that catch you off guard? Become completely absorbed in an idea? Notice patterns, details, or connections that others miss?

Perhaps they have an unexpected sense of humor, an intense curiosity, a vivid imagination, strong emotions, unusual sensitivity, or a way of seeing the world that feels entirely their own.

Families often sense that their child experiences the world differently before they have the language to explain why.

At Tessellations School, we understand both the joys and the complexities of raising and educating a gifted young person. You may already know that your child is gifted, or you may still be trying to understand what you are noticing. You do not need to arrive with all the answers. You can begin by telling us about your young person.

Tessellations is an independent, progressive school serving gifted learners from Preschool through Grade 8. Students find meaningful academic challenge here, along with strong relationships, social-emotional support, time outdoors, and space to play, explore, and still be kids.

Our educators get to know each young person as a learner and as a human being. Students ask deep questions, become absorbed in ideas, make unexpected connections, and develop the confidence to share how they see the world.

Explore the Tessie experience

  • In The Children’s Center (Preschool, 3s), children explore big ideas through imaginative play, storytelling, movement, hands-on discovery, and the natural world.
  • Our Transitional Kindergarten program gives young learners time and space to create, ask questions, build relationships, and grow.
  • In Kindergarten, students develop independence, confidence, and strong academic foundations while exploring meaningful questions and making connections across their learning.
  • In Grades 1–5, interdisciplinary Journeys grow from students’ questions and interests. Through investigation, experimentation, and collaboration, students learn to think with greater depth and make connections across subjects.
  • In Middle School (Grades 6–8), students engage with complex ideas, strengthen their voices, and take greater ownership of their learning through interdisciplinary study, speech, debate, and purposeful exploration.

Not sure where to begin? Just call Tessie.

The best way to understand Tessellations is to spend time here. Visit our campus, explore our learning spaces, meet members of the Tessie community, and see how inquiry, creativity, meaningful challenge, strong relationships, and social-emotional development shape each day.

Many families tell us that visiting Tessellations felt like finding their people. Young people see a place where their curiosity and intensity are understood. Parents meet educators and families who recognize the young person they know.

Come visit Tessie. Our Admissions Team would love to meet your family, hear what you are noticing, and help you consider your next step.
