Who we are
Nothing without joy! Niente senza gioia!
At La Scuola International School, we believe our complex, interconnected society demands a new model of education that opens minds, expands hearts, and fills our spirits with joy.
Our curiosity-first environment blends grounded academics, exuberant exploration, and multilingual expression to best prepare students for our ever-changing world. We teach in this distinctive way because we know the real measure of success is a proven ability to meet change as a change-maker.
That's La Scuola, where boundless learning leads.
Here, we use the critical thinking and connectivity of the International Baccalaureate Program to open our minds — the only accredited Primary Years and Middle Years Program in San Francisco. The Reggio Emilia Approach is our heart, encouraging the care and expressiveness that leads to lifelong joy. And Italian language immersion spirits us into a wider, more wonderful world. By building on these uniquely integrated frameworks, we create space for boundless learning and eagerly meet the world as it actually is.
We also create a one-of-a-kind educational model that fosters graduates who transcend disciplines, navigate between cultures, and communicate in multiple languages.
Studies show that learning to speak multiple languages effectively increases your academic potential and boosts your chances of lifelong happiness. That benefit should be available to everyone, which is why students can begin Italian in Preschool and Kindergarten to grade 5, as well as Spanish in grade 4. We evaluate students applying to other grades on a case-by-case basis.
In 2026–27, La Scuola International School San Francisco will be enrolling students in Preschool, Elementary, and Middle School, and La Scuola International School Silicon Valley will be enrolling students in Preschool, Kindergarten, and Grades 1-4.
