ABOUT MARIN ACADEMY

At Marin Academy, students think, question, and create—not chase the “right” answer. With an 8:1 student-to-faculty ratio, students are truly known by teachers who challenge them to engage with complex ideas, consider diverse perspectives, and turn learning into action.

Learning at MA extends well beyond the classroom. Students conduct research alongside scientists, develop solutions to real-world problems, interview civic leaders, lead service organizations, compete in championship athletics, and create and perform original work. Through signature experiences such as MARC, TLP, Minicourse, Outings, and the student-led Conference on Democracy, students develop courageous curiosity, empathy, intellectual flexibility, and the confidence to navigate the complexity of the world around them.

MA is a diverse and inclusive community that places relationships, belonging, and well-being at the heart of learning. Our students come from 48 zip codes, with approximately 26% traveling from outside Marin County through MA-operated transportation and a vibrant carpool network.

AFFORDING MARIN ACADEMY

We are committed to making an MA education accessible to families from a wide range of economic backgrounds. Through the MA Promise, families earning less than $100,000 pay no tuition.

Families earning more than $100,000 are also encouraged to apply for tuition assistance. Each year, MA provides more than $5.2 million in assistance to over 20% of the student body. Assistance extends beyond tuition: required costs associated with the MA experience are covered at the same percentage as a family’s tuition award. The typical family receiving tuition assistance pays approximately $13,500 per year.
