Who we are

Brightworks School (K–12 & Micro High)

Brightworks is a progressive K–12 school located in San Francisco’s Presidio, where students are seen, known, and empowered to learn by doing. With project-based learning at its core, Brightworks nurtures curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking across every age and stage. Our intentionally small classes foster deep relationships between students and educators, creating a community where every child belongs, collaborates, and thrives.

From our Elementary and Middle School programs to our boutique Micro High, Brightworks students engage in meaningful, hands-on projects that connect learning to real-world challenges. Graduates are equipped to pursue their top-choice next steps—whether entering independent high schools, colleges, or specialized pathways—fully prepared, confident, and resilient.

Brightworks is more than a school; it’s a community that strengthens curiosity, builds relationships, and co-creates the future we all want to live in.

Curious about life at Brightworks?

Come visit us at a Brightworks Open House, where you will be able to see the school, hear more about our unique type of education, and meet Brightworks parents and staff.

These events are optional, and you are welcome to submit an application if you have determined that the school would be a good fit for your learner and your family. Post application, we meet with families, meet with students, and really get to know one another.  That said, please never hesitate to reach out with any questions! We are happy to connect with families anytime to share details of the program, link you up with a current parent, or support you in the application process.
