At Billings Middle School, we believe adolescence is one of the most important and transformative stages of human development. Middle school students are experiencing remarkable growth—intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically—and they thrive in environments designed specifically for their unique needs. That's why Billings is a stand-alone middle school dedicated entirely to the education and development of young adolescents.

At Billings, middle school is a time of discovery: of self, of learning, and of the wider world. Our dynamic, co-educational community empowers students to develop confidence, curiosity, resilience, and a strong sense of purpose. Through a whole-child approach, we combine rigorous academics with meaningful social-emotional learning, leadership opportunities, and experiential education to prepare students not only for high school, but for a lifetime of learning and growth.

Our program is intentionally designed around how adolescents learn best. Students are challenged to think critically, collaborate effectively, take healthy risks, and develop increasing independence within a supportive community that knows and values them as individuals.

Located in Seattle's Pinehurst neighborhood, Billings extends learning far beyond the classroom. Students conduct scientific investigations, both in and out of the classroom, connect humanities and the arts through visits to local museums and houses of worship, and embark on transformative outdoor expeditions to destinations including Deception Pass, Mount St. Helens, and the Olympic Coast. These authentic learning experiences inspire wonder, deepen understanding, and help students build resilience, confidence, and lasting friendships.

Because every aspect of Billings is focused on the middle school years, students are free to embrace the challenges and opportunities of adolescence in a community designed just for them. The result is an educational experience that honors this pivotal stage of development and empowers young people to become thoughtful learners, compassionate community members, and capable leaders.
